Lyme Serum and Concomitant CSF Antibody Analysis

Serum and CSF samples are tested for the amount of (if any) IgM, IgG and IgA antibodies to B. burgdorferi using enzyme immunoassays (EIA). The result will include a blood/fluid specific antibody ratio for each antibody isotype. The blood sample will also be tested by immunoblots. If the specimen is negative, (i.e. antibodies undetectable) and the clinical history strongly suggests infection, collect a convalescent specimen 3-4 weeks later.

Specimen Requirements for Lyme Antibody Tests:

Type: Serum or EDTA Plasma and CSF

Turnaround Time: Routinely 24 to 48 Hours From Receipt
